I ran across this definition recently in a "boy and his dog" novel called Swim For It, Bridget, by Beatrix Moore. I'll have to gather some more attestations, but I believe it is watertight. At coondawgs.com it is defined as a young, female, unbred dog. ~ heyzeuss 04:20, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
