- Should I just move this to RFV instead? --Connel MacKenzie T C 22:39, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- No, it's a verifiable word. I don't think it should be this minimal "soft redirect", though, but a full entry. Some British gurner should define it. No idea whether it's slang or whatever. — Vildricianus 22:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it's N English (Lancashire I think) dialectal. It's used for pulling ugly faces generally, rather than just for competitions. I thought gurning was the only spelling till I read this, but girning certainly explains the etymology. Obviously from gurn/girn, but I've never heard any other usage other than the pres part. Not really my bag, but I might move them to gurn/girn and improve them if they sit here long enough. Enginear 02:40, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Stubbed, rfc removed. Thanks! --Connel MacKenzie 06:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
