- Plenty of Books hits for gorget and hummer on the same page, but not in the same term. Probably the referent would be the ruby-throated hummingbird
or rufous-throated hummingbird(Archilochus colubris), a common hummingbird in the eastern US. - Couldn't find it at Google News either. DCDuring (talk) 23:22, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, the Webster 1913 text said "see rubythroat" and (as I remember) their "see" usually meant it was a synonym. Equinox ◑ 19:32, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
