The article currently says:

From Venetan gnoco, perhaps from Lombard knohhil (“knot in wood”).

But is "Lombard" correct? The Italian Wikizionario article says "Lombardic" or "Longobardic" language, i.e. the early-medieval language, not the modern-time dialect/language, "Lombard":

derivato dal veneto it:gnòco, "it:protuberanza", "it:gnocco" di possibile derivazione dal longobardo knohhil, "it:nodo nel legno"
