rfv-sense: (biology, genetics) The genetic makeup of a specific individual or species. See: genes. Tagged by Dictabeard (talk • contribs), to be honest it looks ok to me, but three citations would be good. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:32, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I can see people saying "I'm fat because of my genetics", meaning "... because of my genetic makeup". SemperBlotto 11:37, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- google books:"because of his genetics", this would seem to pass on that alone. BTW etymology is missing a step or two - it's not directly from Ancient Greek, I think it's via French and Latin. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:46, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Cited, and loads more cites available. And thanks Ruakh. Mglovesfun (talk) 18:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Synonym
[edit]Is genomics a synonym and if not what is the difference? --2003:C3:EF2F:801:7522:CCB1:83FD:82D9 10:55, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- No. Did you consider looking at the two definitions? SemperBlotto (talk) 10:56, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes I just took a closer look; so genetics refers to single inheritable(?) parts of the DNA and genomics to the whole DNA? It wasn't written that clearly. --91.38.174.186 11:22, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
I just found in 'Katzung & Trevors Pharmacology' on page 42 in 'High-Yield terms to learn'
"Pharmacogenetics Synonym for pharmacogenomics; the study of genetic factors that affect drug responses. Does this only affect pharmacology? --2003:C3:EF0F:CFCB:7C38:F20D:5BC4:8860 18:56, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
