Request for elucidation

I believe that it is incorrect to consider a gelateria a shop that sells ice-cream rather than one that sells gelato, as the two terms are irrefutably not identical in meaning, and gelateria is derived from the word 'gelato.' Additionally, one would not consider a shop that sells ice-cream, such as Cold Stone Creamery, a gelateria; it is an ice-cream parlor.

• You may not have noticed that this is an Italian, not an English word. I am pretty sure that the Cold Stone Creamery is not in Italy, and so is definitely not a gelateria. SemperBlotto 07:08, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

• Then I obviously have a misconception of the criteria. In addition to selling ice-cream, it also must be within Italy? So is an ersatz ice-cream parlor of American variety found in Italy considered a gelateria? Cellomilk91 03:10, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
