Missing sense?

Webster 1913 has this, which seems different: "A member of an Indian population, somewhat affected by Spanish blood, in the archipelagoes off the Chilean coast." Not sure whether it needs to be capitalised. Equinox ◑ 13:25, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

@Equinox Could just be plain wrong, as I've never heard that and Wikipedia has no mention of it. A search through Google Books with some promising keywords doesn't turn up anything either. —Μετάknowledge^{discuss/deeds} 22:19, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Mmm. In my experience, the W1913 material is always based on something, but sometimes it's based on a single work — especially with things like the dialectal names of birds — and in those cases we can't get our three citations. (Mr Webster didn't have the luxury of running a keyword search over a database, so couldn't necessarily gauge the frequency of a word.) I wonder what the work was in this case!
