Has anyone considered an Aquitanian/Basque origin for this word? Or did Aquitanian/Basque borrow from French? I can't help noticing the similarity between Basque "gizon" and French "garcon". Was there an interchange between these languages in either direction?
As pointed out by the English etymology, our Old French section seems to be very incomplete. Questions include:
- How many meanings does it have? Citations would be a plus
- Is the nominative case really gars? Solution is probably search for "li gars" (see li#Old French)
- Is garçun better described as Anglo-Norman? Mglovesfun (talk) 08:40, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
