- Is this truly synonymous with cerise sur le gâteau? From the uses, I have the impression that the inversion is not gratuitously humourous, but instigated by the fact that the “nice thing” so identified is not a nice extra little perk but so to say la pièce de résistance. --Lambiam 23:19, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
