doesn't it sometimes mean "naked"?--70.112.108.51 03:34, 29 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed -- no doubt it is no coincidence that this term was popularized by its employment as the title of a movie about strippers... Surely this is because it is in connection with strippers that this phrase first came to be as in, "Monsieur, won't you enter our strip club? We have the full monty!" where "monty" comes from the french word, "montrer" (conjugated "montre" and pronounced with a nearly silent r). The point? "Montrer" means "to show" or "to display". Somebody who knows something about the history of french strip clubs (and visits paid to them by anglophone persons) should be able to comment if this is a likely origin of this term. 24.212.226.188 01:12, 18 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
