I was wondering if anyone knew when this word first was used? I know it was first being used at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas in the fall of 2001.

Well I used it in 1988 while attending Dallas High in Dallas Oregon its what I called my two older nephews.

We can only track first recorded usages. So far, the earliest we've found here is from a 1999 post on Usenet. People may have used it in colloquial speech much earlier, but if they didn't write it down or say it on tape, we'll never know. It's quite possible that various people independently thought of blending fucking retard into a single word.
