• It is (capitalized) also the name Disney gave to its light-show drones.^[1][2] In that sense, it is explained as a portmanteau of “floating” + “pixel”.^[3]  --Lambiam 14:27, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Also, Flixel, the company, noted that cinemagraphs, created by combining photos with looped video, made a big splash in the fashion world in 2012, but they were hard to create. “Flixel created Cinemagraph Pro, an easy-to-use cinemagraph app for iOS and macOS. ... Apple even awarded Flixel an Apple Design Award in 2014 for Flixel’s breakthrough approach to cinemagraph creation. Also, Flixel.org explains “Flixel is an open source game-making library that is completely free for personal or commercial use. Written entirely in ActionScript 3 by Adam “Atomic” Saltsman, and designed to be used with free development tools, Flixel is easy to learn, extend and customize.
