Synonymous with luft?

A luft is space on the second (or seventh) rank that has been vacated in order to prevent back rank threats.

Is flight square (also escape square) considered a synonym, or is it a more general term? The Wikipedia entry "Flight square" treats it as a hypernym of luft. 70.175.192.217 02:32, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

I've thought for some time about whether to put luft as a hyponym or as an entry in "see also". I've decided for the latter because luft is usually treated uncountably ("I've made some luft for the king.") which is why it feels more like an abstract concept to me and not like a concrete square.
