The Chaucer quote is:
- Hengwrt: "fflemere of feendes", scan, text
- Ellesmere: "fflemere of feendes", scan, text (paragraph 2, line 5 on page)
- 1542: "flemere of fendes", scan (column 2, line 4 on page)
- 1860: "Flemer4 of fiendës", scan
But do any other quotations exist? Chaucer wrote in Middle English, anyway. (I'm confused about whether the 1860 one can count since it's basically in Modern English, with occasional obsolete words.) 98.170.164.88 02:32, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- Nothing in OED or EEBO besides Chaucer and another ME text, also listed at MED. This, that and the other (talk) 02:09, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
