Attestation

[edit]

This term seems a recent coinage, and a casual term; it’s got lots of Google hits and Google image hits, but most of these aren’t great as formal attestations. It’s an obvious coinage, and blends are rather popular these days, so there’s likely not a single origin.

I saw it as: “Dear / George / Washington, I / #Preapologize / For The / Flagkini. / Equinox Made Me Do It” (note the other recent coinage/popularization (deprecated template usage) preapologize) in an ad for Equinox Fitness for July 4th, 2014 (image).

Per Google books, it appears that it appears in the recent novel Wish List, John Locke, Jan 31, 2012. This book isn’t searchable, but for future reference, this is probably one of the earliest good attestations.

The talk page mentions Wish List by John Locke as a potential attestation source, but I couldn't find the term in there (it's available on IA). – Jberkel 21:39, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

However, I found the mentioned ad: Equinox Made Me Do It, lol. The new default edit summary. – Jberkel 00:03, 8 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
