Rfv-sense of "The idea that a government's economic policy should be limited to taxation." Possible, but it doesn't seem easy to attest. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 14:50, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The definition is overstated. I have edited the definition and cited the revised version. Kiwima (talk) 22:29, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I like the cites you've provided for definition 1, which I didn't know, despite my BS in economics. I note that fiscalism”, in OneLook Dictionary Search. links only to the two-line WP article. Did your searches find support for definition 3? DCDuring (talk) 00:12, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I didn't really look for it. Do you wish me to? Kiwima (talk) 07:26, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for both efforts, fantastic job. (You can use to format small caps by the way. I already had that quote formatted, so I replaced it.) Definition 3 probably passes as being in common use, but there should be enough. 2017 seems to use a slightly different nuance, it appears to say that IS-LM curve 'mining'/'gaming' is essential to fiscalism. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 10:38, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Re small caps: or {{smallcaps}}. — SGconlaw (talk) 10:48, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Definitions 1 and 3 can be in conflict, 1 referring to a bad old exploitative approach to taxation and 3 referring to the brave new world of public debt-financed expenditure.
As to the negative valence given fiscalism:
I'm not convinced definition 3 has strong political connotations (though it nearly always refers to post-war Keynesians). It looks like a fairly placid academic word, without any in-built implication that fiscalists are more likely than monetarists to rack up debt. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 12:56, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
