In common french , "magouiller" & "truander" exist

and are widely used (cf p. 608 & 1038 of "Le Petit Larousse 2008) .

"Truand" is a very old french "argot" word ( cf François Villon's ballads) , and "truander" can be found in old dictionnaries. Maybe not very euphonic, but no more than "finagle".

As for "magouiller" , I think it comes from the italian "lavorare a maglia" : patiently and deftly knitting up a "combinazione" ... T.y. Arapaima 10:02, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
