King George III did not have feels
[edit]I removed the following quote, which is actually a plural usage of feel, in the sense of "a perception caused by the sense of touch." It is not about having emotions.
Thanks for your attention. -- Alarob (talk) 16:25, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- Quite right. Thanks for removing it. They were speaking of palpation, in the way that palpation was spoken of in their time. Relatedly, the reason I came to this talk page today (and discovered this thread) is that I wanted to record here the fact that as a native English speaker, I don't recall ever hearing this usage when I was growing up in the 20th century, although it is very commonly found in internet comments in the 21st. Clearly it reached widespread popularity starting in the 2000s or 2010s. This is a fun trivia fact for anyone idly interested in anachronisms (such as "hey, that phrase wasn't in use during the era in which this film is set"). Granted that its importance is low (because fiction is allowed to take license for fictional purposes). Quercus solaris (talk) 16:26, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
