- Without putting much thought into it, I think the main difference is that wrong is neutral, just means incorrect; while false is damning, implies lying, deception. Also, wrong can be used of almost anything (you’re wrong, the map is wrong, this is the wrong house, you have the wrong idea); but you wouldn’t say *you’re false. The map is false = the entire map is a deception. You wouldn’t say that *this is the false house, or that *you have the false idea. Also, false is not necessarily wrong...a false-bottom boat does not mean that the bottom is wrong, just that it is not really a bottom. —Stephen (Talk) 12:50, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
