Descendants
[edit]the spanish word "haz" is not a descendant from "facies".
it descents from "fascio" (to bundle).
and technically the english word "face" isn't a direct descendant from the latin word "facies" either. it descents from the old french word "face". --Ninud (talk) 12:54, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- There are two different words with different etymologies that have converged to the same spelling. The common one is from fascio, but the other one comes from facies. See the entry at haz for more information. As for English face: it may be indirect, but we still count it as a descendant, since the Old French word is itself a descendant of facies.
