How to pronounce Excelsior X-sel-sear?
Excelsior related to Ecclesia
[edit]Is there any evidence on record connecting Excelsior to the Latin adjective celer (swift)?
Since R quite spontaneously shifted to S in Old Latin, there might be a connection to a transposed caeruleus (sky blue). 216.99.198.16 21:09, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Really used as an adverb in English? Perhaps it should be an interjection. Equinox 19:59, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'd bet on interjection and not adverb. DCDuring TALK 20:43, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Closing. Somebody has changed the adverb to a usage note. Equinox ◑ 12:59, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
