Second sense...how can something be "directed upward" but not be "vertical in position"? --Connel MacKenzie 06:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Very easily, most people would agree that anything that points between about 35° and 90° from horizontal points upwards, only 90° is vertical. The definition isn't brilliant, but it is needed. Thryduulf 07:55, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

- I think would merge the first and second definiitons as "upright, in a vertical orientation". The word position describes location relative to other objects, while orientation describes attitude, tilt, or relative direction. --EncycloPetey 20:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
