Rfv-sense: anxiously. I'm not seeing it in other dictionaries, looks like a mistake to me. Someone who's eager may also be anxious, but they're not synonyms. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:51, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- I can't see any sense in which they are synonyms either. Should we ask user:Waldir what he had in mind when he added the sense? Perhaps he was thinking of a colloquial usage of anxious that means eager. Dbfirs 17:56, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Quite possibly that's what he was thinking of, but I don't think that the "anxious" sense carries over to the adverb. It would be hard to cite too. DCDuring TALK 18:27, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Probably he was thinking of "He was eagerly expecting her arrival", which has a certain amount of overlap with "He was anxiously expecting her arrival", though they're not completely synonymous. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 19:14, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
