To the best of my knowledge I coined this word about 15 years ago in an article in the short-lived and limited-circulation "Prime" Magazine, a free publication aimed at a gay readership in London. "Tennis dykon Martina Navratilova…" I wrote then. I have a copy of it somewhere. The main problem with provenance is that the publishers didn't see fit to put the date on the cover or anywhere else; you have to guess the date from the adverts for forthcoming events. At the time, I was having a race to the OED with a friend and colleague who'd coined the word "gaypers" for the (free) gay papers that were, and still are, available in most gay bars. I think I won.
