Other Uses of Dunnage
[edit]Tried to look up the word dunnage for a colleague for spelling purposes, and saw definitions that did not reflect the usage I'm familiar with in construction. I have heard dunnage used for the wooden timbers or other material used under the outriggers of cranes, for example, where the outriggers would otherwise be on uncompacted ground. I have also heard dunnage used as a reference to payments made on equipment / material that end up residing on site for extended periods -- such as dropping a trailer on site for use and paying dunnage by the month. Anyone else? Neither of these uses are included in any of the reference definitions I can find. ChuckLeber3 (talk) 21:50, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have just added the payment sense. Regarding material placed under a crane, doesn't sense 1 cover that already? 2A00:23C5:FE1C:3701:49D0:1ABA:3934:4EBA 21:55, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
