Hell

Can this ever be a euphemism for Hell? I grew up thinking it was, and even though I never used it myself, I was surprised it isn't in any dictionary. I don't remember who taught me that meaning. Soap (talk) 02:42, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

I guess Im going to try to find cites for this, so I can add it myself, since nobody responded. It's possible though, since I was very young, that someone just made it up for the conversation in order to avoid saying "Hell". Soap (talk) 20:02, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

I found nothing at all. I think my parents just made this up .... probably not literally the only ones ever to use it that way, but I don't think this merits inclusion. Even so, I may wish to expand our list of euphemisms of Hell with things like bad place. —Soap— 17:38, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

Having written almost the same comment yet again on my userpage I want to at least bring to the table what I have. I have a hard time with citations because of the UI but I have two clear use examples that are not puns or insults against Australia.

• Sexting is the sending of explicit pornographic messages over mobile phones. It started around 2005 down under. Some say “down under” refers to Australia, but others say “down under” is hell.
