I don't see such a sense in the desktop entry. OK, from your section header it's not clear what you were saying. The entry you refer to is desktop picture, not desktop. Equinox ◑ 21:44, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

@DCDuring: Sorry for the confusion. I've used {{rfv-term}} because what I'm challenging is the fact that desktop is listed as a synonym. If it were a sense that I'm challenging, it would be the non-existent {{synonym of|en|desktop picture}} sense in the article desktop. — Fytcha〈 T | L | C 〉 22:08, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

On my browser (FF 101.0.1) and skin (Vector legacy) {{rfv-term}} simply put a strikethrough on the synonym desktop. Also why doesn't it make a display in the entry and link to the RfV page at the appropriate header? DCDuring (talk) 02:13, 25 June 2022 (UTC)

As an aside, I'm not sure "desktop picture" is any more idiomatic than "desktop image" or "desktop photo". Isn't it SOP, from desktop (sense 4) + picture? 98.170.164.88 22:13, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

That’s not a sense, that’s a metonymy. You know, your desktop is basically a desktop picture with some icons, which are so small and insignificant anyway that some people disable desktop icons completely, so roughly speaking your desktop picture and your desktop are the same surface. Very comparable: the fact that screensaver can mean "a picture on your phone", whereas it used to refer to the software that protected your computer from screenburn by displaying some animations. Equinox ◑ 03:42, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
