science fiction term
[edit]I removed this line from Wikipedia (the w:Deadhead page):
- a transhumanist and science-fiction term denoting a person who hopes to see the future without having to experience the intervening time by hibernating in cryostasis
Might need to be included here, I don't have any sources for it though.--Commander Keane 09:22, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is from Cory Doctorow's Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. I'm not sure if this meets the "attestation" test for inclusion. On the one hand, it is a well-known work. On the other hand, it is only one work. Be nice if we can find another sf work that uses it the same way. --Dunhamrc 04:19, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
plumbing term
[edit]- Oops, one more:
- "deadhead" or "dead head" is a term in plumbing, which may refer to the situation where the normally flowing fluid comes to a stop.
