Dagkot != to start a fire

[edit]

Cebuano differention dagkot and haling. The former means to transfer flame, the latter means to start flame from scratch. Nah, binisaya.com is unreliable.

Well I am a native speaker and to say halingi ang lampara means a totally different thing to dagkoti ang lampara. But then it will go down to my word against your bias. So I will just quote a verse from the Bible then as translated Cebuano that illustrate the usage of the word dagkot. "Tugnaw kadtong panahona, busa ang mga sulugoon ug mgs guwardiya naghaling og kalayo ginamit ang uling ug nagdangdang sila nga nagbarog libot niini. -Juan 18:18" (Maayong Balita Bible). That line talks about starting a bonfire. "Pag-andam mo bisan unsay modangat, baksi og hugot ang inyong mga bisti diha sa hawak ug dagkoti ang inyong mga suga... -Lucas 12:35" (Maayong Balita Bible). This line talks about lighting the lamps. You can check those in any of the Cebuano version of the Bible and compare it with that of the English version.Josefwintzent Libot (talk) 06:24, 11 November 2017 (UTC) Josefwintzent Libot (talk) 06:24, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
