Rfv-sense "A piece of armour that protects the elbow" - Wikipedia has it couter or cowter, OneLook doesn't have the sense, quick Googling shows last names galore. Can we get some cites for this spelling? - TheDaveRoss 12:03, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Probably Middle English, e.g. (in the Alliterative Morte Arthure) "Kerues of at þe coutere with þe clene egge". Equinox ◑ 12:07, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
