Sense is "obstinate, headstrong". The referenced author (Brockett) must be John Trotter Brockett, and is probably a dictionary (e.g. A Glossary of North Country Words, in Use), so possibly not a real "use". Equinox ◑ 14:20, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
