In January 2012 I can confirm that the use of chimp as a verb still appears to be used "only within the rather specialised field of digital photography" but is nonetheless a valid entry. Thank you, StevePreddy, it's good that I didn't need to resort to an 'alternative' dictionary to find its meaning. AndyCivil 01:18, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Supporting Notes for addition of chimp as a verb, added in edit by StevePreddy, 12 Apr 2005:
- The usage of chimp as a verb appears to be of very recent origin, and it is a word apparently used only within the rather specialised field of digital photography, but nonetheless has accrued substantial usage, see e.g. the google entry for "chimping". StevePreddy 21:40, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Comments on Bush/Chimp definition & image added in edit by HiFlyer, 17 Mar 2005:
- That image, with that caption, is certainly not in line with the NPOV policy. Wiktionary is not the place for pushing a viewpoint in that manner. I've removed it. Please provide proper citations for the claimed second noun definition, as a dictionary should. A picture comparing a person to a chimp does not demonstrate that the word "chimp" actually has this particular usage. Proper citations do. Uncle G 00:33, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
