Czech translation

The Czech translation for cerebrum in the sense of telencephalon is koncový mozek. That cerebrum is also used to refer to telencephalon follows from Wikipedia's W:Cerebrum. It is unclear to me whether cerebrum can also refer to something else, e.g. to the brain as a whole, for which the translation koncový mozek is inappropriate. --Daniel Polansky 11:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

The English word cerebrum is a technical term, but the organ that it refers to is what most people call the brain. "Cerebrum" can mean either the telencephalon alone, or the telencephalon together with the mesencephalon (midbrain), but the word brain in common usage only means the telencephalon. Yes, the technical word telencephalon is a synonym for the nontechnical word cerebrum. Most people do not know the word telencephalon at all, but use only cerebrum. —Stephen 14:32, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
