Rfv-sense "A way of life which includes the use of animal products" (like leather), as distinct from just eating meat. Has the term really been extended that much? - -sche (discuss) 09:17, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

From what I can see, it was always extended that far. I have added two cites that specifically mention leather in the context of carnism. In addition, there is this, where the table clearly lists a variety of non-food items (but is not easy to format as a quote). I am calling this cited Kiwima (talk) 21:27, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Yes, the eating of meat is always included in the term. The point is that it is not just limited to the eating of meat, but also includes the use of other animal products such as leather. Perhaps we should simply broaden sense 1 rather than create an entirely different sense -- but sense 1 usually refers to the culture around what animals are okay to eat (such as pigs and cows) and what animals are not (such as horses and dogs).
