I removed the following definitions of the verb because none of my dictionaries has them. As far as I can tell they only apply to canvass:
- To assess and attempt to attract political support, often by party supporters from door to door.
- To solicit votes from potential voters in an area or district, or to sway others your way to gain support or power.
- To question everyone in an area near a crime to collect clues. This is a common procedure used by police and private detectives.
According to the dictionaries, to canvas and to canvass are not synonyms. --141.155.20.192 01:57, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
