On historical principles I suppose we have to accept this bastard word into the contemporary International English language - language is a living thing and can't be preserved in a pristine state. Common usage is what dictates its growth or degeneration. - This spelling is actually very rare because British English doesn't currently use the word. Even before the back-formation of the verb "to burgle", the z spelling was more common in British English according to the OED. Dbfirs 13:04, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
