I removed Category:Irish derivations because none of the definitions seems to be for a word derived from Irish. --Angr 16:58, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Sorting
[edit]Shouldn't it be sorted alphabetically or something? Btw, it means both leg and bone in danish just like the other scandinavian languages.
- If you mean the various languages, they ARE in alphabetical order. However, since this is the English wiki, English always goes at the top, and the other languages are sorted below. —Stephen 21:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Then shouldn't it be English, Middle English, Old English ... and then the foreign tungs? Why make someone dig thru the foreign tungs to get to ME and OE? --AnWulf ... Ferþu Hal! (talk) 22:01, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- Why make someone dig through English's immediate ancestors to get to "the foreign tungs"? --Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:03, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Swedish
[edit]Of low importance, but the Swedish audio file seems to say /be.ən/, that is, actually two syllables not one as the IPA says. I speak no Swedish. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:47, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Far ben with
[edit]Chambers 1908 has the Scottish phrase to be far ben with one: to be on terms of great intimacy or friendship with that person. Equinox ◑ 17:21, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
