Trademarked

"Beetle" isn't trademarked for the "old beetle" and in fact can't be trademarked on its own since it's already a generic English word. "New Beetle" may be a trademark. The old beetle's official names was "Type 1" as far as I've ever known. — Hippietrail 03:17, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)

As a followup to what I've said here, the definition which says "a brand of car" is wrong. It's just a nickname given by the people. "New Beetle" may be a brand though. — 138.130.33.197 01:26, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

No such words in Icelandic: Icelandic bitil, bitul ‎(“a bite, bit”)?? Bitill and bitull on the other hand means bit or bridle. --89.160.147.231 10:16, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

rfd-sense: "Nickname of two models of car made by Volkswagen." This should be Beetle, though since it's a mark of car I'd prefer just to delete it. I mean, it's not just a nickname, there is a VW Beetle. Mglovesfun (talk) 15:40, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

So, you know this meaning, but you want to keep it for yourself? And you don't want to provide translations (the French equivalent is coccinelle)? It's a nickname. But moving it to Beetle might be justified, I'm not sure. Lmaltier 21:19, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
