[Italian] From Old French?

[edit]

Etymology 1

[edit]

Borrowed from Old French bald, from Frankish *balþ, from Proto-Germanic *balþaz. Cognate with Old English beald. More at English bold.

Is there a source for "Borrowed from Old French bald"? Wiktionary doesn't have bald#Old French, and further reading Treccani[1] says "dal germ[anico] bald" (from Germanic bald).

  1. ^ baldo in Treccani.it – Vocabolario Treccani on line, Istituto dell'Enciclopedia Italiana
