- cited, although I put the quotes at baby father. My guess it was entered as a plural because the term is often used for the father of one of the children of a woman who has children by more than one man — ie one of someone's multiple baby fathers — because it has no connotations of actually playing the role of father to the child, only to conceiving the child.
