Does anyone know if bőve is equivalent to bővebb? --Bwwm (talk) 23:45, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
Bő is not from Ottoman Turkish
[edit]Bő and bég (bey) are doublets, but bő is definitely not from Ottoman Turkish, bég is from Ottoman bey. Bő cannot be considered a recent (1500s) loan from bey. It is from a much older Turkic layer of loan words in Hungarian, possibly from the pre-conquest centuries, prior to the late 9th century CE. Also consider the relatively distant meaning of bő (plentiful; loose-fitting) and its contrasting pair ín (bőség-ínség). Here's valid source that supports the argument above.
