@Benwing2: I'm not sure I agree with your move. de is not optional here (le diable aux trousses being a particular case). I think the question of prepositions in entry titles would warrant discussion on a larger scale. PUC – 11:01, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
- @PUC We can move it back if you want. The principle here, at least for English, is that we strive to use the minimal form in idioms and leave out words like "someone" or "something". My logic here is that even the example à ses trousses shows that de isn't strictly necessary. I think your point is that logically we need an argument, but this is similar to many English phrasal verbs taking a direct or indirect object where we don't include the object.
