Latin inflection

[edit]

In New Latin there is "machina automatos" (Joannes Crafto Hiegell) and accusative "machinam automaton" (Jacobus Bruckerus) as well as "automatam" near to "automaton" (Athanasius Kircherus has "organum automaton" near to "machinam automatam"). There might also be feminine accusative automatan (automatan or -ān, nominative automata or -ā?), but without sources it's unattested.
BTW: L&S just has "autŏmătus, um (os, on)" but this is unlikey and other dictionaries mention a feminine in -a for automatus, and at least in New Latin one can find "automatam" near to "automatum" (Mechanica hydraulico-pneumatico by P. G. Schottus (genitive P. Gasparis Schotti, ablative P. Gaspare Schotto)). -Slœtel (talk) 18:33, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
