Eggplant
[edit]Why is it that eggplant redirects to this article? Dart evader 06:36, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
I am moving this content out of the english wikipedia article on Eggplant. A list of translations is much more appropriate here than there. I hope someone can include this information into the article (I would do it myself, but I am not sure if these words refer to the plant or the fruit or both. Since this wasn't the color article, I imagine these terms are not exclusively referring to the color.):
- Aubergine in French
- Kaththari in Tamil
- Brinjal in Sanskrit
- Begun in Bengali
- Baingan in Hindi and Urdu
- Melongene in Trinidad and Tobago
- Terong in Indonesia,Malaysia
- Makhua in Thai
- Daimaru nasu in Japanese
- Melanzana in Italian
- Eierfrucht, Eierpflanz or Aubergine in German
- 茄子 (qiézi) or 矮瓜 (ǎiguā) in Chinese
- Berenjena in Spanish
- Μελιτζάνα (melitzana) in Greek
- Berinjela in Portuguese
- Патладжан (patladjan) or Син домат(sin domat)in Bulgarian
- Bakłażan in Polish
- Badanekaayi in Kannada
- Patlıcan in Turkish
- Albergínia in Catalan

Armenian Transliteration
[edit]Ա,ա in Armenian is always pronounced like ā. Using the diacritic in the transliteration is redundant.
