Use without quotation marks
[edit]In the requisite sense, "as is" is often used in quotation marks. Furthermore, "as is" often does not inflect for grammatical number and tense, as in 'the items were purchased "as is"'.
Some searches:
- google books:"sold as is", google books:"are sold as is", google books:"are sold as are", google books:"were sold as is"
- google books:"purchased as is", google books:"are purchased as is", google books:"are purchased as are", google books:"were purchased as is"
- google:"sold as is", google:"are sold as is", google:"are sold as are", google:"were sold as is"
- google:"purchased as is", google:"are purchased as is", google:"are purchased as are", google:"were purchased as is"
Beware that these searches find many occurrences that are not of the requisite sense, such as "In the spring and summer only as many are purchased as are necessary to supply the losses that have occurred ...". --Dan Polansky (talk) 10:32, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
