Perhaps we need a new category for the region of Moldavia, as Category:Moldovan Romanian is for the words that are in used in the Republic of Moldova.

For instance, the word rutieră (as a noun, meaning "minibus") is in use only in the Republic of Moldova. Bogdan (talk) 08:07, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Wiktionary does not recognise Moldavian as a separate language anymore, so the Category:Moldovan Romanian comprises even words used in the Romanian region Moldavia. Well, it was one dialect before the border change in 1812, when the dialect separation began, being accentuated after 1944.

The result is that they have both the "old" dialectal words (like pârjoală instead of chiftea) and new ones (like bătută instead of șnițel). Bogdan (talk) 19:19, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

I don't see the community opting to accept such a distinction – you can ask in the Tea Room. I think, however, that it would be better to keep the current labelling ("regional, Moldova"), but add a Usage Note where applicable, explaining that this term is mainly used in the Republic of Moldova. --Robbie SWE (talk) 19:49, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
