Mathematics definition
[edit]Is this the definition, or is the definition rather: To extend an algebraic object (e.g. a field, a ring, etc.) to the smallest such algebraic object containing (an element not belonging to it).? - i.e. is adjoining defined by what's added (all the series) or by the closedness? I suspect it is the latter. 07:49, July 4, 2010 Msh210 [was in {{attention}}

- Your suspicion is definitely correct. Definition corrected. 166.181.89.132 16:43, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- I bet what happened is that someone was trying to be careful about ring adjunctions versus field adjunctions, not realizing that both are called adjunctions. I will add a second usage example so that both are shown. 166.181.89.132 16:52, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
Transitive?
[edit]I don't understand how definition "to be in contact" could make a verb transitive? Also Merriam-webster seems to confirm that with such a definition it is intransitive verb. Predelnik2 (talk) 06:16, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
