'Abysmal'? Why no mention?

I grew up with 'abysmal' being the adjective referencing 'abyss'. When I first read 'abyssal' a while ago, I was certain it was typo. Recently, I came across 'abyssal' more often. More often than 'abysmal'...Nevertheless, there is an 'abysmal' page in the wiktionary. I don't see any essential difference in meaning or usage. Should there be at least a 'synonym' mention of or a link to 'abysmal'? Korinthus (talk) 23:19, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
