I doubt it: that would make it a pretty big coincidence that a lot of the drug names begin with Z (unless they are also punning). Equinox ◑ 02:46, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

I believe it was chosen on purpose. Other sleep medicines outside the Z-drug class also contain /z/, not necessarily at the beginning. But the affixes keep getting reshuffled. I cant find the page now where we list all of these. we have a partial list at https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-mab#English but its only for monoclonal antibody related names. —Soap— 22:51, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
