pronunciation

while Im sure some people pronounce it this way, i have to say that the group of people who know that x can be pronounced /ʃ/ and the group of people using the name Xitter probably dont intersect much. We could probably find three people saying it out loud, but how would we know that they're thinking Xitter and not just the rhyming word Shitter which has probably been in use since before the name change? I think at least that we shouldnt be promoting /ˈʃɪt.ə(ɹ)/ as the one and only pronunciation of this name, as many people who see it and use it will probably read it with a /z/ sound, or as "X-itter", or not intend on pronouncing it out loud at all. —Soap— 11:36, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Note to clarify: up above i mean we could probably find three people saying /ˈʃɪ.təɹ/ out loud. i realized only just now that the "it" might be understood as referring to "Xitter" ... but my point is that we wont know unless we have the word spelled out too. —Soap— 13:00, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
